Data Administrator / Data Technician
Oxhey Hall Consulting is a Chartered Surveying company operating nationally throughout the UK. We provide surveying technologies and services to some of the largest and well-known organisations in the country, helping them understand and manage the condition of their properties and assets with our innovative information management and business intelligence systems.
The successful candidate will be working in a dynamic team. The scale of projects undertaken involve a considerable amount of management in terms of resources, reporting and data. The role requires working closely with the team to ensure that a high frequency of incoming data is frequently assessed and remedied, consistently, to a high standard, and within the expectations of our clients. There is considerable space for learning and growth in this role, with a demonstrable route of progression for the right candidate as the business grows.
What you’ll be doing
The key role is to ensure the accuracy of data from a high volume of building survey activity. Issues are to be remedied or flagged, and consistency is key. While some engineering knowledge will be developed during the course of undertaking the work, the role has access to the businesses existing breadth of knowledge and expertise.
The successful candidate role will assist in other areas of the business, For example, assistance in setting up and co-coordinating complex projects, reporting on and carrying out tasks across the wider business, giving exposure to the company’s processes as a whole. There is also the opportunity to contribute toward the development of the companies own software solutions, working with the in-house development team.
Typical tasks include:
- Importing/Exporting data from our in-house data collection system and client systems.
- Managing high volumes of data, filtering and finding issues, flagging and commenting where issues are found.
- Following up issues and closing out problems.
- Liaising directly with on-site surveying teams to feedback queries.
- Analysing data to ensure consistency across areas, floors and buildings.
- Comparing sets of data to find material differences.
- Check against lists of common omissions to ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Checking combinations of data values to sense-check against expected results.
- Develop internal reporting to improve efficiencies and convey key information to the operations team.
- Work with colleagues to assist with technical queries and expanding knowledge wherever possible.
- Developing customer reports to help summarise and convey large data sets.
- Producing progress reports outlining the completion status of data submissions.
Communications: Effective communicator, both written and verbal. Able to convey ideas and listen effectively. Ability to work with company clients and colleagues in a professional manner.

Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, and the ability to keep up this high level through high volume and repetitive tasks.

ICT Literacy: Highly level of broad IT competence. Proficient in and can quickly learn new ICT solutions. Highly proficient in the use of spreadsheets such as Excel. Understanding of traditional database technologies – SQL experience desirable. Experience with writing Macros, Python or alternative scripting language to manipulate data also beneficial.
Organisation: Exceptional organisational skills. Able to organise their working day to identify priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work well under pressure.Keen attention to detail.
Openess and Integrity: Displaying integrity when dealing with colleagues, customers and suppliers.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Positive attitude.
